Austria burns with the fires of hate Germany is aflame with a call to war France is lusting for a cleansing fire Poland is erupting into a funereal pyre Europa burns - fires light the night Europa burns - clarion calls of war Europa burns - bodies on the streets Europa burns - the future is on fire Europa burns! England is calling for a new war Italy resounds with the sound of marching boots Finland is bringing iron to the front And rivers in Spain are flowing with blood Europa burns - let us burn the past Europa burns - our fires light the night Europa burns - as it has before Europa burns - as it will again Europa burns! Europa burns!

We slip as shadows out of sight again Days off maps and grids, sons of blank spots Our home now is on borders and between lines Deep behind, where they'll never look for us Amongst trees and roots, ruins and empty houses With the hollow people who were left behind Our eyes full of fear, every moment is dread But we still fight, for what else remains for us? Yesterday there were fifteen of us still Today we are but twelve, and some fare badly Our ammunition is low and most days we go hungry Their bloodhounds are on our trail day and night But we keep on fighting, though we all know We know there is no hope, no victory to be had We disappear into the mist and the distance And there is a cold in my heart that stays there always We slip as shadows out of sight again Pale phantoms lingering between their spaces Our home now is on borders and between lines Out in the distance, where we can always hide Amongst rocks and ruins, emptiness and loneliness We are the hollow people who still remain No land more beautiful than this, in our time As we disappear into the silence and distance

about

In the first months of World War I, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany held a speech to his people, in which he ensured his subjects of the justification of their aggression and assured them of coming victory in this “war to end all wars”. Europa burned, as it had before. Only a few decades later, Europa would burn again in the terrible flames of the Second World War.

History has a hunger for blood, and teaches us no lessons we are willing to learn. Europa will burn again, as it has before.

A Coming Fire is a promotional single released in October 2019, which features three tracks from an upcoming full-length album. The title track, which opens the release, commences with an excerpt from the aforementioned speech by Kaiser Wilhelm II – setting the tone for the entirety of the release. The second track, Marching Under Banners Of Blood, expands upon the theme of futile recurrence of conflict. Featuring excerpts from a Second World War era anti-German propaganda movie, it asks the question who sends men to die, and for what? Europa burns time and time again, but for what purpose? The final track on the single, Kein Schöner Land In Dieser Zeit, explores the noble futility of fighting for a crushed cause – partisans, guerrillas and ragtag remnants of military outfits carrying on beyond all hope, beyond all chance of victory. The inevitable outcome of a total war.

The full album, which is as of yet untitled and will hopefully be completed in late 2019 or early 2020, will feature several tracks in addition to these three. It will expand upon the themes of the futility and inevitability of war, and the ultimate emptiness of human endeavours. The full album will also musically expand on the tracks on the single, with a focus on orchestral martial industrial with plenty of vocals but also expanding into especially neofolk; the dungeon synth elements of previous releases are somewhat obscured in the new material.
